Audubon Charter School announced today that the school has been selected as a recipient of a Healthy Communities Grant by Keep Louisiana Beautiful, the State’s premier anti-litter and community improvement organization.
The grant, in the amount of $2005, will support Audubon’s recycling and waste reduction efforts— including the purchase and installation of recycling bins, recycling instructional signage, compost bins, and portable water coolers. Students, staff and faculty will be educated about the benefits of recycling and how to recycle, and students will be encouraged to bring environmentally friendly, reusable water bottles that can be refilled rather than plastic water bottles.
STATEMENT FROM KATHY RIEDLINGER, CEO, LUSHER CHARTER SCHOOL:
“We have been informed by NOPD that no criminal event occurred on Lusher’s campus as previously reported by NOPD and the news media. The allegation that a sexual assault of a student happened on our campus has been proven not to be true. No criminal incident occurred on Lusher’s campus.
"The safety and security of our campus was never compromised. We continue to examine all aspects of safety policies and protocol, recognizing the safety of our students is our number one priority.
Our thoughts remain with this family as they deal with this serious issue.”
