6th Annual Community Gala and Auction to benefit Morris Jeff Community School

The New Orleans Fairgrounds Clubhouse, 4th Floor 1751 Gentilly Blvd. New Orleans, LA 70119  

Why: Support Morris Jeff Community School, the only International Baccalaureate elementary school in the state of Louisiana, as they host a night full of celebration, art, and local music and food.  

Food will be provided by more than a dozen local eateries, including MONDO, Dooky Chase Restaurant, The Ruby Slipper, Pagoda Café, Juan's Flying Burrito, Slice, The Lucky Rooster, and Canseco’s Markets.  

Dozens of items will be up for grabs in our silent auction (including a 1-week stay at Tranquility Bay Resort in Ambergris Caye, Belize!). Beverages will be provided by some of New Orleans’ favorite haunts.  

Live music will include sultry singer Michaela Harrison at 6:30pm followed by a new-school R&B performance from Soul Project NOLA at 8pm.  

General admission tickets are $50 /person, inclusive of music, food, drinks, and silent auction. Group tickets and event sponsorships can be purchased at www.morrisjeffschool.org.

Morris Jeff Community School will hold its Fourth Annual Feria de Primavera, (Spring Fair) on Saturday, May 10, 2014, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on the grounds of Morris Jeff Community School Holy Rosary Campus at 3368 Esplanade Avenue.  The school invites the community to join in the fun for a great cause.  

The event will feature old fashioned carnival games, inflatables, a climbing wall, face-painting, community booths, a silent auction, student performances, and great hands-on activities.  There will be delicious food, including hot boiled crawfish and pulled pork plates, handmade tostadas, hamburgers, hot dogs, and baked goods, along with beverages for all ages. 

What: Morris Jeff Community School and Homer A. Plessy Community School are proud to team up together to announce their joint art auction fundraiser to benefit both schools. Artists at the event will include Aaron Collier, Oscar Brown, Catherine Markel, Corinne Carter, Diego Larguia, Jessica Strahan, Violet Iris Skye and Stephen Hillenburg, creator of Spongebob Squarepants.

Why: Support diverse, community-based public schools for New Orleans. The event will feature a live auction with auctioneer John Calhoun, a silent auction, hors d'oeuvres, and a cash bar.

Morris Jeff Community School to Host Open House on November 7
 
Morris Jeff Community School will hold an Open House for prospective students in grades Pre-Kindergarten 4 to 6th Grade on Thursday, November 7, 6pm to 7:30pm at the school’s temporary location at 3368 Esplanade Ave. in New Orleans. Morris Jeff’s brand new Mid-city facility is under construction and will open in January 2015.
 
Morris Jeff Community School recently received its certification as an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School offering the Primary Years Programme, making it the only authorized IB elementary school in Louisiana.
