Louisiana’s Virtual Learning Charter, Connections Academy, logs back on to school Monday, August 128/7/2013 Approximately 1200 K-12th graders will log on to their computers Monday, Aug. 12 and get their entire public education this year virtually, from Louisiana Connections Academy.
“One reason families are turning to tuition-free full-time virtual schools like Louisiana Connections Academy is that parents want a more personalized education for their children,” notes Caroline Wood, Louisiana Connections Academy Principal. “Our school tailors students’ studies to their abilities and interests, and students can work at their own pace.” Virtual schools can be a great alternative for lots of different kinds of students -- whether they’re ahead or behind their peers, have learning challenges, are pursuing athletics or a host of other circumstances, said Principal Wood. Yet despite the growing popularity of virtual education, some parents still don’t know how virtual schools work. Louisiana Connections Academy has held information sessions with interested parents and students throughout the state over the summer. A handful of events to learn about the school and consider enrollment are still available:
