“Sci High” to hold Open House
New Orleans Charter Science and Math High School “Sci High” will hold an Open House for parents and prospective students on Thursday, November 2 from 5:00-7:00p.m. at its campus at 5625 Loyola Ave. in Uptown New Orleans.
Parents and students are invited to learn more about Sci High, tour the campus and meet the faculty and staff.
“Sci High” is the highest performing open-enrollment science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) school in the state. Sci High offers students cutting-edge and industry-focused STEM electives. Sci High was given the National Society of High School Scholars Foundation’s Class Nobel School of Distinction Award for its academic efforts.
Hynes Charter School 2017 Open House
Edward Hynes Charter Elementary School will hold an Open House for Parents and Prospective Students on Thursday, November 2, 8am-10am at 990 Harrison Ave. in the gym of its Lakeview Campus.
Edward Hynes Charter Elementary School serves children in Pre-K gifted and Kindergarten through 8th Grade.
Lusher Charter School, an “A” rated school, located in Uptown New Orleans, will host open houses for prospective students and their parents to highlight its K-12 arts-integration, inquiry-based approach to education.
Lower School Open House for incoming Kindergarten students will be held on Wednesday, November 15 at 9:00 am at the Lower School Campus at 7315 Willow St. Open House for grades 1-5 will be held on Wednesday, November 1, 9:00 am at the Lower School. The Middle and High School Open House for students in grades 6-12 will be held Wednesday, November 8, 5:30 pm at Lusher’s Fortier Campus, 5624 Freret St. in the Atlantic Bridge Gymnasium (between the school and the football field). Morris Jeff Community School will hold Open Houses for prospective students in grades Pre-Kindergarten- 8th grade on Tuesday, October 24 at 6pm and for grades 9-10th on Thursday, October 26 at 6pm at its campus at 211 S. Lopez St. in Mid-City.
Morris Jeff will be accepting applications for grades PK-10, with a grade added each year until the school is PK-12. Morris Jeff will ultimately offer the International Baccalaureate’s globally recognized Diploma Years Programme to its high school students by the school year 2019-2020.

Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy (Discovery) is growing their current music program and is raising money to buy instruments, music, and basic equipment for orchestra and band classes. Students are collecting pairs of gently worn, used or new shoes to support micro-enterprise vendors in developing nations. Micro-enterprises are small businesses in developing nations that are typically operated by one person or family and friends.

The International High School of New Orleans (IHSNO) will hold its 4th Annual Hispanic Heritage celebration for the school with an assembly featuring speakers, traditional dance, student performances, music, arts, traditional Hispanic Food.
Speakers at the event will include Mary Moran, the co-founder and Executive Director for Nuestra Voz New Orleans and Dr. Wanda Solano, NASA engineer in charge of the critical DATA center.
