Einstein Charter School is adding 500 additional seats for new students in grades Pre-K-8 for the 2015-16 school year, announced Chief Executive Officer Shawn Toranto.
To accommodate this expansion in the fall, Einstein will open the first independent middle school in New Orleans East since Hurricane Katrina, serving grades 6-8. The new school, Einstein Charter Middle at Sarah Towles Reed, will occupy its own floor of the former high school. The New Orleans Council on Aging will host Senior Fest 2015 at the University of New Orleans Lakefront Arena on Friday, May 8, 2015. The theme of this year’s Senior Fest celebration is “Get into the Act,” to focus on how older adults are taking charge of their health, getting engaged in their communities, and making a positive impact in the lives of others. The theme also reflects on the 50th anniversary of the Older Americans Act. President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Older Americans Act into law in July 1965.
