CHICAGO, ILL. – The National Basketball Retired Players Association (NBRPA), the official Association comprised of NBA, ABA, WNBA and Harlem Globetrotters, will mark its 25th anniversary at the NBRPA’s 18th annual NBA All-Star weekend celebration in New Orleans, LA, February 17-19.
 
The All-Star Weekend has grown into an incredible mid-season fan opportunity and sporting event featuring the league’s top rising players. This year’s event will honor the 25-year anniversary of the founding of the NBRPA, which helped former players gain important pension, healthcare and other benefits.
 
"I look forward to once again welcoming the NBRPA family to New Orleans for All-Star Weekend 2017,” said NBRPA President & CEO Arnie D. Fielkow. Civil District Court Judge Paula Brown, a Candidate for the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeal seat in the March 25 election, received the endorsement of the Southeast Louisiana Building and Construction Trades Council, AFL-CIO.
 
Judge Brown said, "I am honored to be endorsed by the AFL-CIO which represents so many working men and women in New Orleans.  I will be proud to carry their banner on the campaign trail."

Students will make use of various forms of expression re-enacting Shylock’s monologue from the Merchant of Venice. Painting, narration, song, rap music, and multiple foreign languages are some of the different modes chosen by students to give voice to such an emblematic monologue.

The Greater New Orleans Collaborative of Charter Schools (GNOCCS) reminds parents interested in the four following public charter schools that their unified application and application deadline for admission for the 2017-18 school year is Friday, January 13, 2017, and not part of the Orleans EnrollNOLA/OneApp system.

International School of Louisiana Acquires New Campus

The International School of Louisiana (ISL), an “A” rated language immersion school, is pleased to announce that it will expand its campuses to include the former Mary McLeod Bethune Campus at 4040 Eagle Street in New Orleans- a campus building that became available when Bethune Elementary relocated its campus to Humanity Street.

ISL plans to make the campus an Early Childhood concentrated facility for grades K-2, housing up to 400 students. ISL currently has three other campuses Uptown, the Westbank and Jefferson, as well as a temporary campus in Mid-City.
