International School of Louisiana (ISL) is the only non-high school in Orleans Parish to earn the state’s Top Gains designation due to its School Performance Scores (SPS) growth.

International School of Louisiana to Hold International Day Parades Uptown, Westbank, and Jefferson Campuses will celebrate cultural diversity with traditional second lines around campuses The community is invited to the International Day Parades at all ISL campuses. Students and faculty will wear the colors and traditional clothing of countries from around the world and carry countries’ flags as they second line around campus neighborhood, sharing the International experience and celebration of diversity with the local community with bands, music, and more!
This year-end celebration is a uniquely New Orleans way to experience the essence of the ISL community and its celebration of diversity and all cultures. Students spend the last week of school studying the different nations and cultures of our world blending what they have learned with a traditional New Orleans celebration. 119 middle school students from International School of Louisiana (ISL) received their DELF (Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française) and DELE (Diplomas of Spanish as a Foreign Language) diplomas at a special ceremony on Saturday, March 18th.
The DELF and DELE diplomas are official qualifications certifying the degree of competence and mastery of French and Spanish, granted by the Ministries of Education in France and Spain and recognized by countries all over the world. “We are happy to celebrate these students and take the opportunity to say how proud we are,” said Melanie Tennyson, CEO/Head of School for the International School of Louisiana. The International School of Louisiana (ISL), an “A” rated language immersion school, is pleased to announce that it will expand its campuses to include the former Mary McLeod Bethune Campus at 4040 Eagle Street in New Orleans- a campus building that became available when Bethune Elementary relocated its campus to Humanity Street.
ISL plans to make the campus an Early Childhood concentrated facility for grades K-2, housing up to 400 students. ISL currently has three other campuses Uptown, the Westbank and Jefferson, as well as a temporary campus in Mid-City. What:

Harlem Globetrotters female Star TNT Maddox New Orleans Saints Pro Bowl Defensive End Cameron Jordan WHAT: New Orleans Saints Pro Bowl defensive end Cameron Jordan will join Harlem Globetrotters star TNT Maddox, the first woman to don the red, white, and blue since 1993 to present the Globetrotters’ school initiative – “ABCs of Bullying Prevention.” The two athletes will show the students how to demonstrate Action, Bravery, and Compassion. TNT will teach Jordan and the kids a few Globetrotter tricks. Known as the original “Ambassadors of Goodwill,” the Globetrotters developed “The ABCs of Bullying Prevention” with the National Campaign to Stop Violence. The presentation uses the team’s signature ball handling skills and humor – for a well –balanced presentation that informs and entertains. This program was designed in coordination with the National Campaign to Stop Violence and covers three key ways kids can help reduce bullying in their communities. Forty nine middle school students from International School of Louisiana (ISL) will receive their DELE diplomas at a special ceremony on Saturday, March 19th.
The diploma ceremony will be held in the Boyd-Cruise Room at The Historic New Orleans Collection, 410 Chartres St at 2:00 p.m. Students receiving diplomas and their families will be in attendance with special remarks by the Honorary Consul of Spain, Luis Baños. The International School of Louisiana will host a special "Unity in Diversity" event on Tuesday, January 26.
"Unity in Diversity…a day of celebration at ISL" will take place at the school's Ralph Bunche campus in the spirit of New Orleans and Carnival and in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr and Ralph Bunche, the first African American to be honored as a Nobel Peace Prize recipient. It is one more way to share culture and history with students, the community, and help further ISL's mission of celebrating diversity. |
