Online Appeals to be Accepted Monday, July 23 - Monday, August 20
New Orleans property owners who wish to discuss the taxable assessment on their property with the Assessor’s Office may do so during the Open Rolls period, announced Orleans Parish Assessor Erroll Williams. The tax rolls will be open weekdays beginning Monday, July 16, to Wednesday, August 15, from 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.

The Orleans Parish Assessor’s Office will be holding question and answer sessions to help business owners understand how to log-in to the Assessor’s online portal and fill out their LAT 5 Business Personal Property Self Reporting Forms electronically at nolaassessor.com, announced Orleans Parish Assessor Erroll Williams. 
 
The sessions are free and will offer direct staff assistance regarding completion and online submittal of the form, as well as general questions about the form itself.

CITIZEN REFUSING TO PAY TAXES FILES RECALL PETITION
Mr. Howard Anthony Brown, a chronic tax protestor who was disqualified from seeking public office in Orleans Parish because he has failed to pay income taxes, has filed a federal lawsuit and a recall petition to force an election whereby he can be a candidate for Assessor of Orleans Parish. The recall petition will be voided if he fails to collect 84,000 qualified signatures by October 18, 2018. See these background documents.

The Orleans Parish Assessor’s Office will be holding question and answer sessions to help business owners understand how to log-in to the Assessor’s online portal to fill out their LAT 5 Business Personal Property Self Reporting Forms electronically at nolaassessor.com announced Orleans Parish Assessor Erroll Williams.
 
The sessions are free and will offer direct staff assistance regarding completion and online submittal of the form, as well as general questions about the form itself.
 
“We’ve continued to make the online submission process more user-friendly and as intuitive as possible,” said Assessor Williams. “We’ve seen steady growth in online submissions from year to year but we’re really still not where we’d like to be. A major focus of these sessions will be to simplify the online process for filers.”

The Orleans Parish Assessor’s Office has two remaining free sessions to help business owners understand how to log-in to the Assessor’s online portal and fill out the LAT 5 Business Personal Property Self Reporting Form at nolaassessor.com.  

The sessions are free and will offer direct staff assistance regarding completion and online submittal of the form, as well as general questions about the form itself. The LAT 5 is a declaration of a business’s merchandise/inventory, if applicable, and the cost and year of purchase of fixed assets, such as equipment, furnishings and leasehold improvements.
