Lake Forest Charter School is excited to get back to school! The first day for students in Grades 1-8 is Wednesday, August 8 and Kindergarten’s first day is Wednesday, August 15. All students will report to Lake Forest’s campus at 11110 Lake Forest Blvd. at 8am.

Lake Forest Charter School and Liberty Bank & Trust Present 5th Annual “Cocktails and Blues” Benefit9/22/2017 Lake Forest Charter School and Liberty Bank & Trust Present 5th Annual “Cocktails and Blues” Benefit on October 21 Lake Forest Charter School will host the 5th Annual Cocktails & Blues Gala on Saturday, October 21, 2017, at the New Orleans Lakefront Airport Terminal, 6001 Stars & Stripes Blvd. The Patron Party begins at 6pm and the Gala and Silent Auction will start at 8pm. The evening, sponsored by Liberty Bank & Trust, raises critical dollars to assist Lake Forest Charter School in providing its high quality, nationally recognized program.
Last year, fourteen 7th graders at Lake Forest Charter school had an idea. They decided to start a program make to the world a better place, and thus the Better Future Program (BFP) was born. The group was created to help keep students, young and old, on track.
The Better Future Program initially was a blog that included homework help, healthy recipes, study tips, student artwork, writing and more. Over the past year, the site has been visited by students internationally, from the USA to Ireland and Brazil with nearly 4,000 unique visitors and 58,220 plus page views. To celebrate Lake Forest Elementary Charter School’s nearly three decades of academic success, the school is hosting its annual “Cocktails and Blues” benefit. Lake Forest is now a public charter school authorized by the Orleans Parish School Board in January 2006.
“This is a great day for all the citizens of New Orleans East,” said Ira Thomas Sr., OPSB President. We are breaking ground on the highest quality school ever built in this area,” Thomas continued. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) provided the funding for this $34,075,000 project. The new school will be LEED Silver Certified. The architect is Imre Hegedus. The McDonnel Group is the contractor. This project has 35% DBE participation during the construction phase. “FEMA is pleased to help the families of New Orleans East receive a first class elementary school that will be an outstanding community asset,” said Thomas “Mike” Womack, Director of FEMA’s Louisiana Recovery Unit. “This is a school that parents, teachers and the community will always be proud of as FEMA continues its commitment to the recovery of the New Orleans area,” Womack continued. |
