Angel Varnado announces candidacy for Judge of the 24th Judicial District, Division G, Jefferson Parish
Former Assistant District Attorney Angel Varnado announced her candidacy today for Judge of the 24th Judicial District, Division G, Jefferson Parish, which is currently presided over by the Honorable Robert Pitrie, who is retiring.
Ms. Varnado brings both civil and criminal experience to her candidacy, having worked in the law firm of Pugh, Accardo, Haas, Radecker and Cary, and as an Assistant District Attorney in Orleans and Jefferson Parishes, where she quickly earned a reputation as one of the most successful prosecutors in the metropolitan area.
Angel Varnado was born and raised in Avondale, graduated with honors from L.W. Higgins High School, received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from LSU, attended UNO where she pursued a Master of Arts Degree in Counseling, while at the same time attending Tulane University, where she received a Certificate in Human Resources Management, graduating with honors.
Ms. Varnado then enrolled in LSU School of Law and earned her Juris Doctorate and a Bachelor of Civil Law.
In making her announcement, Ms. Varnado said, “To be a good solid judge, you need real trial experience coupled with temperament, objectivity, a sense of fairness and toughness, and I know that I possess those qualities.”
