This book, Rescued by a Kiss, is showing up at carnival-themed stores and even on floats as a Mardi Gras treasure. It's a crime-mystery about a young New Orleans woman whose life turns around when a handsome tuxedo-ed stranger marching in a Mardi Gras parade gives her a kiss she can’t forget. His parting words to her at the end of the parade become a secret she must unravel, that lead her into a wild chase involving attempted murder, corrupt politicians, oil land leases, dog rescues and a saving chorus of drag queens. After reading this fun romp through New Orleans’ favorite hang-outs, you too will be wondering where the next Mardi Gras could take you...if you agree to live a little, like Brandy, and be rescued from the mundane by a kiss. CITY COUNCIL, FIX THE CZO! Respect, Protect, Save New Orleans’ Neighborhoods. Learn more about the Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance at RiverfrontAlliance.org. Paid for by the Riverfront Alliance, a coalition of New Orleans neighborhood organizations. Today, a billboard went up on Loyola Avenue at Poydras Street, across the street from City Hall, sending a loud and clear message:
Judge Tiffany Chase has ordered the City Attorney’s Office to produce a “knowledgeable individual” to respond to and perform a records request by VCPORA and French Quarter Citizens Inc., two long-standing organizations dedicated to preserving the historical integrity of the French Quarter, the city’s first neighborhood.
The records request was made after the City of New Orleans’ City Attorney, Law Department and the City Planning Commission refused to produce public records relevant to Section 8.1 of the City Zoning Code. At hearings before the City Council, the CPC’s Director referenced recent legal opinions from the City’s Attorney’s Office that prompted the removal of Section 8.1 from the CZO, even though that element has given VCC the power to review land use in the Quarter since the 1950s. Riverfront Alliance of Neighborhood Organizations What:
