Riverfront Alliance of Neighborhood Organizations
PRESS CONFERENCE called by seven neighborhood organizations unified as the Riverfront Alliance regarding the proposed City Zoning Ordinance and the changes needed to protect citizens and neighborhoods.
10 a.m., Tuesday, January 6, 2015
Little Gem Saloon, 445 South Rampart Street
The Riverfront Alliance is comprised of these non-profit neighborhood organizations:
· Algiers Point Association,
· Confetti Kids (Algiers),
· Faubourg Marigny Improvement Association,
· French Quarter Citizens, Inc.,
· Holy Cross Neighborhood Association,
· Neighbors First for Bywater,
· Vieux Carre Property Owners, Residents and Associates
A billboard, paid for by the Riverfront Alliance, is going up on Loyola Avenue at Poydras Street as a call to action to the City Council, and wake-up call to the average citizen that the proposed City Zoning Ordinance (CZO) must be changed to respect and protect neighborhoods. The CZO in its current form is largely anti-neighborhood and pro-development, to the detriment of all neighborhoods throughout the city.
Press Conference speakers from participating neighborhood organizations and the Bureau of Governmental Research will outline priority issues and share important information on changes to the CZO that are necessary for protecting residential quality of life, property values, and the basic rights of citizens. Details regarding an upcoming Fix the CZO Public Meeting will also be shared.
