Today, Omar Mason, a highly respected local attorney, formally announced his candidacy for Judge of Civil District Court, Division E. “I am so excited to offer my decades of experience as a lawyer and community servant to the people of New Orleans in hopes of serving in this position of trust,” said Omar Mason, Candidate for Judge, Civil District Court, Division E. “These are serious times we live in, and I am running for judge to ensure fairness for everyone in our courts. If elected, I won’t just be a judge who sits on the bench, but I will be a judge who stands up everyday to ensure justice for all.” Omar was born and raised in New Orleans, graduating with honors from McDonogh 35 High School – where he served as head drum major – before graduating from LSU and then Loyola Law School. Over his nearly 19 years of litigating complex civil cases in both New Orleans and Houston, Omar has been recognized as a “Super Lawyer” among his peers in the area of Business Litigation. His clients and colleagues have commended his honesty, commitment to excellence, and his integrity, notably earning Omar an AV “Preeminent” Rating for Ethical Standards and Legal Ability. Omar has applied his dedication and commitment to servant leadership in the New Orleans community, serving as President of the Sigma Lambda (Alumni) Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.; as Chief legal advisor of the Knights of Peter Claver; on the Board of Directors of the New Orleans Chapter of the Federal Bar Association and as chair of its Philanthropy (Outreach) Committee; and on the Board for Audubon Charter School. Omar has also served as adjunct faculty at LSU, Tulane and Loyola law schools – teaching litigation skills. Omar is the husband of 16 years to his wife, Carla, and father to two daughters, Jade and Sydney. The election for Civil District Court Judge, Division E will take place Tuesday, November 6.
