The City Council will declare October 2015 as Notarial Archives Month in New Orleans. To celebrate, Clerk Dale Atkins will present one hour tours of Notarial Archives will be available Thursdays October 8, 15, and 29 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the Amoco Building, Room 360, on 1340 Poydras St. New Orleans has one of the richest land records archives in the nation, with documents dating back to 1735, and reflecting its history as a French and Spanish colony. The Notarial Archives staff assists the public with architectural, historical and genealogical searches. The tours are first come, first served and are limited to 20 people per tour.
