EINSTEIN CHARTER SCHOOL CAMPUSES TO PARTIALLY RE-OPEN THURSDAY

NEW ORLEANS, LA:  Officials with Einstein Charter Schools and the Recovery School District announced the following updates today:

School will resume as normal at Einstein Charter School Village de l’Est PreK – 5th (5316 Michoud Blvd – Extension Building), Einstein Charter Middle – 6th-8th (Sarah Towles Reed, 5316 Michoud Blvd – 1st Floor) and Einstein Charter High – 9th (Sarah Towles Reed, 5316 Michoud Blvd – 2nd Floor) on Thursday, February 9th.

Students from Einstein Charter School Sherwood Forest in 3rd, 4th and 5th grades will report to Einstein Charter High (Sarah Towles Reed, 5316 Michoud Blvd – 2nd Floor) on Thursday, February 9th at normal school hours.

Students from Einstein Charter School Sherwood Forest in PreK, Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades will not report due to limited space.

Einstein Charter School’s Sherwood Forest campus will be closed due to power outages and concern of debris in the surrounding neighborhood until further notice. Sherwood Forest’s target date to re-open is Monday, February 13th.

All aftercare programs at all Einstein Charter Schools campuses are cancelled for the remainder of the week.

Notes for parents:

·      Given road closures, families in New Orleans East should expect delays during morning pick-up and afternoon drop-off.
·      Drop off for Einstein Charter School Sherwood Forest will be the Einstein Charter High entrance at Sarah Towles Reed.
·      Students should attend school regardless of loss of uniform or school supplies.  Einstein staff will have school supplies available for students.
·      Any students who are unable to attend school due to tornado damage will be excused with provided verification.
·      Einstein social workers at each campus will be working with community groups to provide emotional support to our affected students and families.
