The National Basketball Retired Players Association (NBRPA), the only Association comprised of NBA, ABA and Harlem Globetrotters alumni, is making good on its promise to return to New Orleans to host a free youth basketball clinic and community event on Saturday, April 6 for families in the Lower Ninth Ward and we would like to formally invite you to join us. With your guidance, the NBRPA teamed with the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) to help the City of New Orleans brand the reconstructed outdoor basketball courts at Oliver Bush Playground with a $25,000 donation in August 2012. At that time, our Board of Directors (all former NBA or ABA players) made a pledge to come back to New Orleans in 2013 to host an event on the new courts andwe have planned to hold this in conjunction with New Orleans City Councilman James Gray II on Saturday, April 6 at 2 p.m.
The planned timeline for the community event and youth basketball clinic at Oliver Bush Playground on April 6 is as follows: 2:00 p.m.: Community event and registration for the free youth basketball clinic begins 3:30 p.m.: Dedication of the newly-branded NBRPA, NBA and NBPA courts 4:00 p.m.: Free youth basketball clinic conducted by former NBA players We would be honored if you could join us for any or all of the events scheduled at Oliver Bush Playground on April 6. Your support of the NBRPA’s community endeavors is greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Arnie D. Fielkow President & CEO National Basketball Retired Players Association
