The training will be conducted by Elizabeth Elizardi, an academic Dean at Mildred Osborne Charter in the Arise Schools Network of New Orleans. Ms. Elizardi has piloted an innovative, nationally-recognized coaching program to increase academic performance and foster teacher effectiveness and growth. Elizabeth hopes to bring this strengths-based perspective to the educational landscape in New Orleans.
The Top Shelf is a resource offered to members of LAPCS to enhance board capacity and engage community in their school’s success. It aims to enhance the effectiveness of charter school boards through ongoing professional development and increase the pool of qualified board members through The Top Shelf Board Bank, a pool of board-members-in-waiting. In addition to seminars and webinars, the Top Shelf customizes sessions for individual charter school boards and has recruited 170 prospective board members from across nine parishes.
