International School of Louisiana to host Safe Routes 5K Walk/Run on Sept. 15 For media inquiries, contact: Karla Rivera (504) 913-9830 or H.Harper (504) 897-6110 What: The International School of Louisiana (ISL), in partnership with the National Center for Safe Routes to School, will host a 5K Walk & Fun Run to benefit the school with the purpose of promoting a safe, healthy, and active lifestyle, and to encourage students to walk and bike to and from school. The race will be professionally timed and awards will be given to the top three female and male finishers by age group. When: Sunday, September 15, 8:30am Registration on the day of the race is from 7:15am – 8:00am. The first race starts at 8:30am with post walk/run activities following from 10 am – 12 noon. General public race entries are $15/entry. The event is free to ISL students and faculty and discounted race entries at $10/ entry are available for ISL parents and staff. Safe Routes t-shirts will be available at $10/shirt. Race application forms are available now at the front desks of all three campuses (Uptown, Westbank and Jefferson) and on the ISL website www.isl-edu.org After the run, there will be an award ceremony, drawings, educational expos, safety and healthy lifestyle presentations/displays, entertainment, and food and refreshments. ISL has two language immersion schools in Orleans Parish, and one in Jefferson Parish offering Spanish and French immersion for grades K-8.
