Louisiana Connections Academy, a free public virtual charter school open to students from every parish of the state, has openings for additional students in grades K-12, said Principal Shuanessy Matthews.

“We are excited about these openings, but it is also late in the enrollment game. Most of the openings are in grades 6-12. Therefore, if your middle or high school student is not happy with their school assignment or if virtual schooling would help your student excel in the 2014-2015 school year, contact us now,” said Principal Matthews.

Information sessions are scheduled throughout the state and online. To find the session nearest you or most convenient for your schedule, go to www.ConnectionsAcademy.com/LACAevents or call the school at 225-372-8389 than 1200 students were enrolled in the free public school last academic year.
Principal Matthews said she and her staff are there to help families transition from a traditional brick-and-mortar school to the joys, freedom and flexibility of an online education.

“We are like any other school in that we meet state curriculum standards, require testing accountability and offer students all the opportunities of clubs and field trips. But we also offer personalized tutoring, and high quality electives, like e-learning courses at Juilliard. I encourage you to find out how we can help your teen now,” said Principal Matthews.

Principal Matthews said sometimes parents are looking for a public school that addresses their values or offers a solution to a problem their child is experiencing at school, whether a need to catch up, “survive” growing pains or even just work around athletic training.

“Parents and students sometimes enroll at Louisiana Connections Academy because it solves a problem in the student’s lifecycle. Maybe the student doesn’t feel like they fit. We help put education back in the right place for the student’s personal success. After all, ‘fitting in’ isn’t the path to happiness, but being able to read is,” said Principal Matthews.

She said some students find high school at Louisiana Connections Academy perfect because they get a personalized education that addresses their interests, learning pace and schedule. Others find a virtual high school education a temporary reprieve from an environment that wasn’t working in a traditional setting.

“Whatever the need, we make sure your child is not just okay, but is growing and excelling. We empower you and your child to cross the graduation line,” said Principal Matthews.
