Lusher Charter School is proud to announce that the school’s orchestra and cast of “Hello, Dolly!” won a $10,000 prize to support the school’s music program. Lusher Charter School’s Orchestra and the cast of “Hello, Dolly!” recorded a video performance of the all-time classic song from the musical to compete in a contest sponsored by Popeye’s “Love That Music” Competition. All public and private schools were invited to submit a video to be judged on artistic merit, band dynamics, confidence, energy, group cohesion, interpretation of style, originality, and rhythmic control. Judges included Grammy Award Winner Irvin Mayfield, The New Orleans Jazz Orchestra Musicians, and Jazz Studies faculty from the University of New Orleans. The Lusher students won first place in the regional division and overall winner across divisions. Starting tonight through November 9th, Lusher Charter School will present the production of “Hello, Dolly!” the musical at Tulane University’s Dixon Hall. All performances begin at 7:00 p.m, tickets are $15.00 and can be purchased through each campus office. The student cast of over 100 students from Lusher School, accompanied by Lusher’s own orchestra and stage crew, will bring the famous musical to life with a high quality performance and production.
