The New Orleans Military and Maritime Academy (NOMMA) will hold an Open House for parents and prospective students in grades 9-12 on Monday, October 21, 2013 from 5:30-7pm at its temporary Westbank Campus in Federal City at 2000 Opelousas Ave., Building H-100, New Orleans, LA 70146. Interested parents are invited to tour the school and meet faculty and staff. Parents unable to make the Open House are encouraged to contact the school for information and tours at (504) 227-3810. The New Orleans Military and Maritime Academy is a new charter high school opened for the 2011-12 school year in Algiers. NOMMA is an open-admission charter, accepting students from all 10 metropolitan parishes. All students of NOMMA are also Cadets in the Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (MCJROTC) program.The campus will be re-locating to a brand new state-of-the-art Federal City campus in Algiers in January 2014. NOMMA’s founders are retired Marine Corps Officers who were inspired to fill the need for better quality public education and character-building in the community. The Academy combines rigorous academics with an educational environment that stresses ethical decision-making and is proven to improve confidence and maturity in students while preparing them for a successful college career. NOMMA is a Type 2 State Charter school open to all students in Louisiana.
