Sci High to Host 2017 Student Summer Internship Show Case
75 Sci High Students held internships at businesses including Audubon Institute, Louisiana State University, Touro Infirmary, Tulane University, and Xavier University Cancer Research Institute
 
What:
The New Orleans Charter Science and Mathematics High School "Sci High" is hosting its annual Summer Internship Showcase. This event is the culmination of the Summer Internship Program and the celebration of the accomplishments of the 75 Sci High Interns that held paid internship placements around the city. The internships engage community partnerships, local industry, and student ambition.
 
When:
Thursday, July 27
3pm – 4pm

The New Orleans Charter Science and Mathematics High School "Sci High"

Why: 
Meet the 2017 Summer Internship Cohort, review their capstone projects and learn more about their adventures in the Summer Internship Program.   Interns will present to the audience and prizes will be awarded to outstanding projects. 
 
Organizations that hosted interns this summer include Audubon Institute, The GR Group Physical Therapy, HSO, Louisiana State University, Solutient, Touro Infirmary, Tulane University, Xavier University Cancer Research Institute and YouthForce NOLA.
 
Event attendees will include Sci High and Advocates for Math and Science Education Board Members, work site sponsors, and friends and families of Sci High.
 
About Sci High:
Sci High is the highest performing, open-enrollment science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) school in the state, providing students with a high-quality education. It offers students cutting-edge and industry- focused STEM electives. Sci High was given the National Society of High School Scholars Foundation’s Class Nobel School of Distinction Award for its academic efforts. Students have access to AP classes, summer internships, and robotics courses. Sci High is the 
only public school in New Orleans to offer all three industry pathways of
 the Project Lead the Way courses: Engineering, Biomedical Science, and Computer Science and boasts a new Makerspace for student exploration.
  It features small class sizes in an encouraging, respectful atmosphere in an academically rigorous public school setting. Sci High dedicates many resources to supporting the whole child, through counseling support, a health clinic, tutoring and enrichment programs, and student-centered initiatives and training.
