Students from four area schools have been selected to perform at Young Audiences of Louisiana’s Spring Spotlight on Wednesday, May 10th at 7pm at the West Jefferson High School Auditorium, 2200 8th Street, Harvey, LA with seating on a first-come, first served basis.

Acts will include African drum and dance, modern and hip-hop dance, ballet, steel pan, creative movement, and marching bands. This show will be the culmination of the knowledge and skills students have gained under the tutelage of master teaching artists in the 2016-2017 Young Audiences afterschool program.

“The children are incredibly excited to show off their talent and hard work at the Spring Spotlight. Without the afterschool program, the vast majority of our students would not receive access to arts training at this level or at all. We are proud that we can provide opportunities to such a wide range of students in a variety of disciplines, but we’re most proud of the smiles on our students’ faces as they leave the Spotlight stage with a sense of accomplishment and joy,” said Jon Cosper, Young Audiences Director of Extended Learning.

The event is free and open to the public thanks to the continued support of Amerigroup. Four of Young Audiences afterschool programs in Orleans and Jefferson Parish will perform, including Lincoln Elementary School, Morris Jeff Community School, West Jefferson High School, and Young Audiences Charter School.
