WHAT: The International School of Louisiana Uptown and Jefferson Parish Campuses will end the 2013 school year with their annual International Second Line Parades

WHEN:           Friday, May 31st, 11:00am

WHERE:        International School of Louisiana (ISL) Uptown Campus
1400 Camp St., New Orleans, LA 70130

International School of Louisiana (ISL) Jefferson Parish Campus
822 S. Clearview Parkway, Harahan, LA 70123

At the Camp St. International Parade, both of the Orleans Parish Campuses (Camp St. & Olivier St.) will participate with students marching side by side through the ISL Campus and Coliseum Square Park.  Additional participants include the New Breed Brass Band, students from the New Orleans Recreation Development Commission Band (NORDC) and Algiers Technology Academy High School Band, Councilmember Latoya Cantrell, stilt walkers and unicyclists from the ISL Circus Arts program, and other community members.  ISL students, faculty and families will wear the colors and costumes of countries from around the world.

At the International School of Louisiana-Jefferson Parish Parade, students will join members of the New Creations Brass Band in a Second Line around the campus. Jefferson Parish community leaders and members will participate in this Second Line as well.  As in the Orleans Parish Campuses parade, ISL students, faculty and families will wear the colors and costumes of countries from around the world.

This year-end celebration is a uniquely New Orleans way to experience the essence of the ISL community and its celebration of diversity and all cultures.  Students spend the last week of school studying the different nations and cultures of our world blending what they have learned with a traditional New Orleans celebration.  Students will carry countries’ flags and decorations as they second line throughout their campuses.
