STORYTELLING FUN DAY AT WESTBANK LIBRARIES

Fun for first through 3rd graders; opportunity for parents to learn more about Jefferson Parish’s westbank charter school

Young Audiences Charter School invites parents and children entering kindergarten through third grades to attend a free Storytelling Fun Day at the Live Oak or Gretna Libraries to discover how fun learning can be, announced School Leader Folwell Dunbar.

The free events are:

Saturday, July 20, 10 a.m. to Noon

Live Oak Library Community Room, 125 Acadia Dr., Waggaman

Saturday, July 27, 1 to 2:30 p.m.

Gretna Library Meeting Room, 102 Willow Dr., Gretna

The two storytelling events will feature acclaimed actor Roscoe Reddix, Jr., who will present “Stories from Around the World”. Parents accompanying their children can take the opportunity to learn more about the charter school’s 2013-2014 academic program.

According to Mr. Dunbar, the new arts-integrated charter school opening at the Kate Middleton campus in Gretna this August still has limited seats open for first through third graders.

Young Audiences will be the only open-admissions charter school on the westbank of Jefferson Parish. Parents can find out more by visiting www.yacharterschool.org or calling 504.523-3525 for enrollment information.

Young Audiences of Louisiana was founded in 1962 with the mission to inspire, empower, and connect children and communities through education, arts, and culture. Over the last 51 years the organization has grown from presenting school performances of chamber music to our current position as the states largest provider of arts-integrated and afterschool programs. In 2012 Young Audiences of Louisiana employed over 250 trained teaching artists and educators to provide afterschool programs for over 2,200 students free-of-charge in the Greater New Orleans area.
