The 5th annual Young Audiences Dancing for the Arts Gala will be held Saturday, March 22th at 6:30 PM at Harrah’s Casino Theatre. The event will include an open bar, hors d’oeuvres and dinner by Harrah’s Casino.
The one-night event is modeled after the popular reality television program Dancing with the Stars, and will feature local community leaders competing on the dance floor with Young Audiences’ performing artists. Tracy Stewart and Joan Zaslow co-chair the event. Competitors include community activist Cathy Bart, actor/musician Dave Davis, clay artist and philanthropist Marla Donovan, arts advocate Crystal Valteau-Morgan, and David Silvers, MD, President of Metairie Gastroenterology.
The emcee for the evening will be WDSU anchor Camille Whitworth. The judges panel will include New Orleans Museum of Art’s Director Emeritus, E. John Bullard, the Jerome S. Glazer Foundation’s Kim Glazer Goldberg, Mardi Gras Productions’ Blaine Kern, Jr. and television’s Chet Chat host, Chet Pourciau.
To purchase tickets to the event go to: www.dancingfortheartsnola.com. Individual tickets are $100 and patron tickets are $125, inclusive of food, drinks and entertainment.
Those who do not attend can still vote for their favorite dancer at $1.00 per vote with a $10.00 minimum. All votes will be counted toward the chosen celebrity dancers to help them earn the coveted People's Choice award the night of the event.
All proceeds from the event will benefit Young Audiences of Louisiana. With over 50 years of experience, Young Audiences has adapted and evolved to serve the ever-changing needs of students in our community. Today they employ over 220 local artists who reach over 100,000 students in Louisiana through performances, residencies, and extended learning programming. In afterschool and summer programs alone they serve over 2,000 students free-of-charge in the greater New Orleans area.
